Tata Steel was established in India as Asia’s first integrated private steel company in 1907. With this, they also developed India’s first industrial city at Jamshedpur. Today, Tata Steel is among the leading global steel companies. Tata Steel overcame significant challenges in land management by implementing CyberSWIFT’s Land Management System (LAMS). The platform streamlined complex land acquisition processes, ensured accurate record-keeping, and improved compliance with legal and environmental standards, enabling efficient project execution and long-term sustainability.
Tata Steel was looking for an one stop solution to assist in multiple location wise Land Management with a central storage of all the land related data. They wanted to view and analyse all the plots on map and retrieve any data or document related to that particular plot. A tool was required for macro to micro level monitoring of every individual plot from Pre-Land Acquisition to Post Land Acquisition and manage the workflow of Rehabilitation & Resettlement (R&R)
Tata LAMS (Land Management Application) is a comprehensive GIS-based solution designed to streamline and optimize land acquisition, management, and resettlement processes by consolidating all land-related data into a unified platform. It facilitates the land map and record digitization and geo-referencing of cadastral maps, integrates satellite imagery for enhanced visualization, and supports tracking of land acquisition stages, legal disputes, and compensation details. The system offers robust features such as document management for easy retrieval of land-related records, cost estimation for valuation and payments, customizable dashboards, and dynamic reporting tools. Additionally, it addresses rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) by ensuring fair compensation for Project Affected Families (PAFs) while minimizing duplicity through the integration of family trees. By providing tools for land use analysis, encroachment detection, and decision-making, Tata LAMS has enabled organizations like Tata Steel to efficiently manage and monitor land parcels across locations such as Gopalpur and Kalinganagar, ensuring transparency, better land utilization, and operational efficiency.
